Expense report app

Hi all,

So I'm a first-time Dataverse and Power apps user and playing around with the Expense Report Power apps application as...

  1. I'm interested in beginning to upskill in my job now and getting more involved in the Microsoft Power Apps projects we are working on over the next year
  2. The company I work for still uses spreadsheets for travel expenses and they want something more modern for users to interact with + have better audit trails of these expenses

This leads me to the course Expense Report app training session, it's been amazing and exactly what we need! I have been following the guide as instructed (however I am working in my environment as I want to play with the functionality of it first, I'm not sure if this is the problem but thought it would be worth noting.)

So far I am on the following part 14 of Exercise - Populate and filter your gallery - Training | Microsoft Learn and seem to be getting stuck. When I switch to the filter provided any of the expenses I have created under my user disappear. (please see gif attached) I tried to continue with the steps thinking it would resolve the matter at a later stage but unfortunately, this didn't turn out to be the case.

Hopefully, this is something obvious I am missing but any advice on how to overcome this issue? more than happy to provide any more context where needed 🙂

Thanks,

Matthew

    Hi Drew,

Thanks for getting back to me on this, it looks like my user tables 'primary email' column was using my organisational domain email address. I've switched it over to the correct email and all seems to be working as expected!

    Thanks for your help,
    Matthew

    Hi @mmcgookin ,

Easiest thing to do would be to go into the make.powerapps.com, find the table with this information, and view the data in the table (showing the primary email address field.

See image below, something like this although mine is showing a table called "Location".  Yours would be the Traveler table.  You can add additional columns to view by clicking on the +16 more (of course you will have a different number there).

My expectation is the primary email address doesn't match your user for the records as the code looks correct to me.

    Hi Drew,

Thanks for getting back to me on this! I've included the code within the gallery (image below)

I have also placed the on-start code as well. (image below)

I haven't tried displaying the primary records yet as I'm not entirely sure how to do that. If you have any guidance on the code I could use to change this it would really appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Matthew

    Hi @mmcgookin ,

In the gallery you have the following type of code to filter the list right?  Are you setting the VarUser on the App.OnStart() as it suggests as well?   Have you tried just displaying the record's "Primary Email" in the gallery to verify the value matches your user for the records you expect?
