ModernControls -> Combobox doesn't work with Office365Users.SearchUser()

Hello,

The new controls appear to have issues when using the Office365Users.SearchUser() method as the data source, which is essential for selecting a user.

The scenario: I want to be able to select users like I do for old controls.

This is the value that I have put in the Items

The problem: When searching for a text, no results are displayed initially. However, if you click on the page and then return to the control, the results are displayed. But when you make a selection, the old value remains.

Is there a way to fix this ?

Thank you!

    Hey Mburiac,

You can raise that number from 5 to 999. Unfortunately, it can only show the top 999 users. Give SearchUserV2 a shot instead and let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

Hi @Ben_L , thank you for your answer.
Actually, with the classic control, it worked directly, meaning it searched in the data source, and I assume it should be the same here. It doesn't seem to be a limitation issue in my opinion, but rather how it interacts with the data source. The number of users is greater than 999, so it won't be a viable solution for me.

The same behaviour was exhibited with V2, unfortunately.

    Hi @mburlac,

If you want to get all the users more than 999 from your organization, please check the following thread:

Well, it's not quite solving my problem. I'll try to explain in more detail. With the old-style controls, I needed to add a ComboBox and set its "Items" property to "Office365Users.SearchUser({searchTerm:ComboBox_participants.SearchText})", which gave me normal behavior, meaning:

    - When typing a user by DisplayName or Email, it would search in the data source, i.e., in Office365Users, and allow me to select and use them.

Today, for Modern Control ComboBox, the search works, but when I try to select an item, it immediately disappears after being selected. So, I can't select users.

@mburlac i totally agree. This control seems to be really "buggy" when the Datasource is not static. I do experience the exact same behavior as you mentioned. I also can't think of a workaround to overcome this bug.

I also was just going to post something about this.  I can get the list like with the old control, I can search and find, but when I select, it does not retain the selection making me use the "old" control.
