At what stage do you usually merge the patches into the parent solution? At Dev Environment? Test Env? Customer Test Env? Prod?
In one way it´s beneficial to merge into the parent solution at Customer Test so the customer have a chance to verify before taking it to Production.
On the other hand, if we have ongoing work for feature sprints we don't want to merge those things into the parent solution, which forces us create a separate "bug patch" to deploy to prod.
I have been asked the same question today. Firstly are you referring to solutions which include Canvas Apps, Model Driven Apps or all of the above?
Taking Canvas App based solutions, I am wondering if the only way to apply Hotfixes to see a version in the prod environment is via GitHub Co-authoring, with say a hot fix branch. However, I think this will take some managing, if the Devs are already working on a new sprint .
