Add Azure Databricks tables as knowledge source into Copilot Studio Agent

Hello!
I’m trying to add some tables from my Azure Databricks as a knowledge source in a Copilot Studio agent so that I can ask questions about the information stored in these tables.
The connection is created successfully, and I can see a preview of my tables in the Copilot agent. However, when I ask questions, the agent cannot access my data. How can I solve this issue?

    A couple of things

Out of curiosity can you connect to it via Power BI?

    1. What connector are you using specifically for DB?
    2. Can you validate if you are using Semantic Search configured in Azure AI for DB?

I guess the simplest way to explain it is, DB and Copilot are dumb between each other unless you create a semantic search index, it is very much like... in Copilot Studio Lite, where if one person has the full license, you can enable the semantic index models against the companies data for everyone which is going to make relevant search way better.

If you do not set one up for DB against Azure AI its simply dumb... I am having a lack of better way of saying it, but without the actual data in an index to point CP at, you won't get anything useful.

If these suggestions help resolve your issue, Please consider Marking the answer as such and also maybe a like.

    Thank you!
    Sincerely, Michael Gernaey

    Hello @Michael E. Gernaey

    Thank you for your answer!

    1. I am using the azure databricks connecter with Oauth authentication.
    2. Regarding the second question I'm not sure what do you mean with using Semantic Search in Azure AI for DB. From what I see in:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/databricks/#use-azure-databricks-as-a-knowledge-source-in-copilot-studio I just need to add the DB as knowledge source.

Could you clarify this part? Thank you for your help!

Uggg I had a whole message typed out and my browser crashed again I know its me using hardware acceleration but uggg sorry rant off.

When you add a virtual table, without semantic index and/or Azure Search AI, it treats this as if its a blank page. So your searches are essentially getting tossed into the void.

In this case its not really a table in Dataverse and unless you can use Semantic indexing for Microsoft 365 Copilot | Microsoft Learn or you point at data from databricks actually in Azure Search (which creates indexes etc) then it treats the virtual table almost like a blank page.

yes dataverse can get back and forth but copilot is stupidified by it.

I will see if I have time to setup an example for you. I am going to Disney for the Mickey's Christmas Party and so I won't be around long :-)
