Getting user emails into a flow

Hi all,

I have an app that tracks hours spent working on engineering projects, and a flow that requests an approval depending on if the hours meet certain criteria or not. My question is, how can I have my flow email one of three managers based on if they are in charge of a project or not? At the moment, my flow just has one of their emails to make things work, but I would like to have the flow figure out which person to send it to. The app it draws from fills out a "Timesheet Manager" field with the name of the manager who needs to be email, so I'm wondering if I can use this as a reference to get the right email.

I'll include some pictures of my flow below, I can provide more details if needed.

I appreciate any help!

    Hi, you have made this hard on yourself by not formatting the SharePoint column for TimeSheetManager to a person or group column, single select. This would store all of the information about the manager in the column, including the email which can then be used to send the email to. There are other ways to build on what you have done but it will take me a day to right it out.

    @C-Papa

    Well then how would you recommend I change the format of the SharePoint list? I don't see a way to do it in the column editor on my site. I may just add a column in my project table that has the email addresses for the associated timesheet managers so I can get that data in my app, and then have the flow pull out the proper email address then send it.

    Hi @Aurora

    There is no way to change the current column (Single text) to Person. You need to create a separate person column and update your code to use a person column.

    For example Person column name "Manager" then in Power automate you should be able to see a field called "Manager Email"

    Note: You may need to update your all existing data to the person.

    I created a label that pulls the emails I need from my data source. When you select a project, the relationship I created automatically grabs the right email, and then sends an approval request with a power automate flow. I made the label invisible because it isn't important that the end users see it, and created a column in my SharePoint site that automatically grabs the email as well.
