Hello,
I was wondering, How to create an entity relationship diagram for already existing table in a single Dataverse environment?
Do I have to create a model in Power BI to do so - or there is any other tool or easier approach? Any clue?
Thanks,
Hi @dave8,
If you connect to the tables in Power BI and choose to autodetect relationships (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/desktop-create-and-manage-relationships) you can then see the data model in the Model View (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/transform-model/desktop-relationship-view) in Power BI.
Hope this helps. Please accept if answers your question or like if helps in any way.

The Entity Relation Diagram Creator for the Xrmtoolbox is a great free plugin to create an ERD and export to Visio.

And XrmToolBox also has another very useful tool a metadata document generator that will give you a data dictionary in Excel or Word.
Its buggy on large entities or large dataverse installations
@ChrisPiasecki Hello, I found this very interesting post which perfectly answered my question on how to visualize relationships from Dataverse - I had tried the PowerBI option but for some reason it turned out not be reliable.
I am intrigued by the possibility of exporting to Visio - how do you practically do it? I when I export the file from XRM it is in .erd format, which Visio does not seem to recognize.
Thanks a lot!!!! 🙂
The https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/plugins/JourneyIntoCRM.XrmToolbox.ERDPlugin/ is buggy on large entities. From our experience, it failed to display all the fields in large entities even all the entities in very dataverse data models. Imho, Power BI was able to do it and offers the best option right now. However, I with @ValeriaBreve that Visio should provide native support with DataVerse.
