Here is my application and the update field that allows me to update a date field in an Excel file.
However, when I update the date field, the time is added and I don't want it.

Actually, I will always suggest a GENERAl column type to save the date value in Excel table instead of a Date format so that we could avoid all the format issue.
So, in your scenario, you must make sure that you column format is set to date only not date time.
Anyway, a general column is although conservative, it can guarantee the success rate.
