EditForm based on a collection

I am trying to use an editform based on a collection.

I can set the datascource to the collection, I can set the item to an item of the selection.

Then I cannot choose fields, but I can add custom datacards and set datafield to the field.

Then I there is no update porperty for the datavard so have to patch manually when finished.

The interface keeps saying the form is not connected tot a datasource.

Am I doing something that I shouldn't and if so, why not an error when choosing the collection as a datasource?

    Hi @HansHeintz,

Forms are designed to work with the actual datasource directly. I would recommend either connecting to your datasource (e.g. Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL...) or using separate controls and a button that saves the data to your collection.

A collection is stored in memory and is not seen as an actual datasource. Once the app session ends, the collection is also cleared.

If this solves your question, would you be so kind as to accept it as a solution.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Lol, I understand a collection is cleared if a session ends. Still it is, under circumstances, not such a strange tought to first edit a collection of items (for purposes of performance) and then save to a table when done. Theoretically powerapps might restrict me in doing this at all if it is not meant to be and not let me find this out eventually. Still it would be a pity since I love the form construction (and would love it even more if custom components could be added to datacards).

    Thanks for answering!
