Adding phrases to triggers in Microsoft Copilot Studio

The instructions here to add phrases to triggers in topic creation are not congruent with the MS Copilot studio interface. Clicking edit twice does not allow the use to add phrases. I only see an empty properties screen.

    Hello @agashaamor

To add trigger phrase you need to click on the edit button.

There's some sort of bug here but I can't work out what it is.

I've been doing the training for PL-900: Microsoft Power Platform Fundamentals and just spent far too long absolutely baffled about why there was no option to add phrases to the trigger.  This thread was created in January though and I've definitely seen it work more recently.

When you add a new blank topic, the trigger is this "Triggered by Copilot (preview)" option that, when you click Edit, asks you pick variables.  There is nowhere to add phrases.

I gave up in the end and created a new CoPilot and, this time, when I added a blank trigger, it gave me the option to add phases.

As far as I know I created both these in exactly the same way - but I assume there is some mystery setting somewhere in the Custom CoPilot that means one topic will get phrases for a trigger but not for the other.

If your copilot is set to Generative, you can't specify trigger phrases.  You have to be in classic mode to set trigger phrases (which is the default and why when you created a new copilot you were able to)

    Hello! 😊

I’ve found a solution to the issue. Here are the steps you can follow:

    1️⃣ Select the agent

2️⃣ Go to "Settings" (top right corner) ⚙️

3️⃣ Navigate to the "Generative AI" section

4️⃣ Switch from "Generative" mode to "Classic" mode 🔄

    5️⃣ Return to "Topics" 📂

    6️⃣ Create a new topic

7️⃣ You'll see the "Phrases" option available! 📝

I hope this helps! Let me know if you need further clarification:
