Power Automate Approval Flow FlowActionTimedOut on PVA bot

Hi,

I built an Approval flow that calls from PVA bot. everything works fine in the test bot, but when I published the bot to Teams and chat from Teams to call the flow, after a few minutes I got the message below:

An error has occurred. Error code: FlowActionTimedOut Conversation Id: a:10pkjOho_Uz6U-M-IKsDiwKWzSjo8vL6cV48UUaELf3ii9dXDR1ZxueoyleF4HDsnHAk9tVQ40qPQRzsAvnE3TBdmZY92Uw9r_CtUoRcZ8o_BcV40NSX3LtW381WJ_t6Z Time (UTC): 2023-06-01T21:18:23.350Z

I still get the approval email sent from the Power Automate, so the flow worked. But why I got the FlowActionTimedOut error message? how to fix it?

Thanks,

Min

The problem is that when you call the flow from the bot it is calling it synchronously. So the bot is expecting a response within a certain period of time. That's why it is timing out.  I can't guarantee that this will fix it, but you can try turning on the Asynchronous response in the respond to PVA action of the flow. That should send a response right away and not wait for the Approval to complete. The Approval should stay live and will still work, but your bot won't have access to the response.

Thanks @Pstork1  for the answer. I made the change you suggested above "turning on the Asynchronous response in the respond to PVA action of the flow", and republished the bot. When I try it I still get the same error.

I wasn't sure if that would fix the issue or not.  But it was worth a try.  I suspect the only other option is to find a way to virtualize the call.  For example, have the flow you call from PVA create a new row in a SharePoint list and have another flow that does the approval based on when an item is created trigger in that list.
