Model-Driven: Queries on Views within a Model-Driven App

Hello,

I'm tasked in my org to do a model-driven app and while I got most of my help from Microsoft Documentation and from YouTubers (Lisa Crosbie's full beginner's guide to Model-Driven), I have some questions on views which I cannot find yet. For starters, this is what I want to achieve:

So my questions are:

  • For the "All Requests", how can I ensure that when users file for a request, is that they can only see their requests?
  • For the "Admin View", how can I make it so that only administrators I assign within the environment's security roles can view this Subarea within the model-driven app? If it's not possible, what's a good workaround so that the list is private to the team?

Just to add to "Admin" section privilege part. It's possible to rule the availability of the area to a user based on particular privilege granter through security roles. Here is the article you can check - https://www.alphabold.com/create-a-role-based-sitemap-navigation-in-dynamics-365-ce/

    Hi @hexarthrius

    • For the "All Requests", how can I ensure that when users file for a request, is that they can only see their requests?
      • Can someone raise a request on behalf of someone else ? If so then you could achieve this with Power Automate.  Create a Request Owner field on the Request table, that is a lookup to the User table.  You can then edit the view and add a filter that is Request owner equals current user. If the owner of the request record is always the Owner, then just use that field in the filter condition - Owner equals current logged in user.
    • For the "Admin View", how can I make it so that only administrators I assign within the environment's security roles can view this Subarea within the model-driven app? If it's not possible, what's a good workaround so that the list is private to the team?
      • The best way to achieve this is to make a copy of your Model Driven app, and configure it for Admin access, then add your admins to that app with the correct security role
