Hi All,

Just getting started with PowerApps.

Created an Azure SQL db two days ago and can connect to it via SMSS. (opened single IP access). No other changes to default db suggestions.

Go into PowerApps, try to create new Connection and get the error in the subject.

Pretty sure the details are correct given I can connect to it via SMSS.

Any ideas what I've missed?

Cheers,

Liam

    Hi @liamgsmith

Is this your first time trying to connect your SQL server on-premise to PowerApps? If so, please make sure that you have gone through below articles:

    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/connection-azure-sqldatabase/

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/suvidha/2017/01/03/powerapps-with-sql-server-on-premises-using-the-...

    Please check the following things.

    1. Please make sure your database engine is configured to accept remote connections.
    2. Please make sure that you create an exception on the firewall for the SQL Server instance and port you are using.
    3. Please check if your SQL server services is up and running properly.
    4. Please make sure that you enable TCP/IP in SQL Server Configuration

    Regards,

    Mona

    Hi Mona,

I'm using Azure SQL DB, not on prem, that's why this is so weird. The error occurs at Step 5 auth for cloud.

Are there any other steps for a Azure SQL db for it to work with PowerApps? There is nothing listed in any document anywhere I can find.

I've checked and I have a Business Essentials license assigned, with PowerApps, so I don't think it's licensing.

    Any ideas?

Can confirm there are no other steps required.

Realised that the db prefix I'd tried to use had not been accepted, and I'd gotten mixed up with server and db name

    All sorted!

    Hi Mona,

The on prem. gateway that mentioned here would it be the same that if I installed one for my Power BI, can both Power BI and PowerApps share the same gateway??

    My error read like this:
"message": "Credentials are missing or not valid.\r\n inner exception: The credentials provided for the SQL source are invalid. (Source at wfapdb11;PWT_WFA_Development.)\r\nclientRequestId: c85b60a0-57f7-4af5-ac61-a76e4e738489",
