Using Guid to grant access to a specific folder

Hi everyone,

I’m having trouble with a flow in Power Automate, and I hope you can help me figure it out.

Scenario:
We have workers on a building site who need access to a specific folder containing the relevant information for that site.

The process works as follows:

  1. An admin creates a new folder and uploads the required data.
  2. My flow generates a GUID for the new folder and creates a subfolder specifically for the workers' data, which also gets a GUID.
  3. This information (GUIDs, folder details, etc.) is then stored in a SharePoint List.

Issue:
In my problematic flow:

  • I use a "Get Items" action to retrieve the correct list entry containing the GUID. This part works, and I can confirm that I get the right GUID in a Compose action.
  • However, when I try to filter another "Get Items" action in the document library using this GUID, I don’t get any results.

What I’ve checked so far:

  • I verified that the filter query is structured correctly.
  • I confirmed that the column name in the document library matches the query.

Despite these checks, I’m still unable to get the desired values.

Do you have any tips or insights on what might be causing this issue?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hi,

Could you show how you have written the filter query - that would help to understand what the reason behind the issue

    Hi

You can't use Get Items for querying document libraries. Use Get files (Properties).

    Thanks

    Hi @abm

Get items is used for list only - but I have tried using get items to specifically to filter documents library - it seems to be working !

But as you said - recommend approach is get files (properties only)

    Thanks & Regards
