Power apps Portal Invitation feature for Open ID users

Is the invitation feature necessary if the user can login with external login providers, as portal automatically creates contact. I don't see any difference between the login credentials and contact association with or without invitation code feature. Please elaborate, I'm new to portals. I have an app where user can login with Open ID provider. Do I need Invitation feature? We already have a web app with users provisioned, we are migrating to Powerapps portal. The new app will be provisioned to the same existing domain url. Open ID authentication will automatically create contacts. I don't find any reason on why we need invitation? Does it limit user in any way?

Hi, the invitation feature you should use if you already have the Contact record created in your Dataverse and want to invite that Contact to the Portals.

For registering new users, you don't need to (and shouldn't) use the invitation process

Thank you for the response. In my case the contacts already exist but user on portal login with an Open ID where on-prem custom authentication service would do the authentication process and portal after the validation is successful would login, and more over I need to know where I can see the link between contact and invitation process? I'm able to login with an external account (Google, Open ID) without contact and portal creates contact on-fly, so I'm trying to understand how does invitation process help? where can I see that relation link between contact and invitation?

Within the Portal Management App (Dataverse / Model-Driven App) --> in the invitation record, you can see the Contact record associated with it:

Thanks for the response. My use case is user will never use local login, only open id login is allowed, so I'm not sure if invitation process is even needed in my case because user can login with Open ID and if authentication is successful then contact record is auto-created by portal and user is logged in to the portal site. We already have an existing old website and we are trying to migrate to powerapps portal.
