Hi all,

I have developed an app which updates a sharepoint list but I want to be able to add a button to the app and when I click on it, it automatically displays the what3words location in words.  I am really struggling to find any videos that produces a step by step to walk you through how to get this to work.

I have searched using all different versions of the request but only get the premium connector for what3words that I can not use or get a video that shows you they have the 3 words displayed but not the coding or process behind it.

Can anyone help please as this is the last part of the app I need to get to work
I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

The algorithm designed by what3words is not open source, so as far as I'm aware, nobody but what3words know exactly how the words are chosen, although you could probably guess at how it works.

Is there a reason you cannot use a premium connector? If it's license related, you probably can't use other connectors requiring premium features... so you probably have to get techy.

The only thing I can think for you to do is to create an Azure Function that will watch your SharePoint list for coordinates input by your app and call the what3words API (https://api.what3words.com/v3/convert-to-3wa) to collect the words associated with it and update your item appropriately.
I believe you can use their developer portal to get an API key: https://developer.what3words.com

    Hope this helps.

thanks for the quick reply @RyanAutomates.

with reference to your comments "The algorithm designed by what3words is not open source, so as far as I'm aware, nobody but what3words know exactly how the words are chosen, although you could probably guess at how it works."

Oh no I did not want to do this, or undermind what3words source and business.  Sometimes if you cannot afford the premium connectors there are other options to display a link for instance which allows you to go into the what3words website and do the search as if you would when logged on to the internet but instead from a button on the app.

Since posting this I have managed to look into the what3words premium connector and it is not the same as other premium connector as they offer free alternatives to use these in the apps that you create.

My issue now is to try and work out the code so that it provides a what3words word location and understand why the connector is showing as a preview when I have a proper API key to use from what3words itself.  I have a new suggestion to use the power automate function to use this service so will try that as well.  Really appreciate the response

    thanks again.
