Issue with SharePoint Knowledge Source in Sales Copilot Power Virtual Agent

Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on Sales Copilot Power Virtual Agent and encountering an issue I hope someone can help clarify.

Previously, I had configured SharePoint documents as a knowledge source, and it was working perfectly with Generative AI in the bot. However, recently it stopped working—the bot no longer retrieves content from SharePoint, and I'm seeing connection issues related to the knowledge source.

Additionally, I noticed that there are now instructions added to the bot configuration saying something like: “Do not access any internal or external knowledge sources.”

I'm wondering:

  • Could these new instructions be blocking the SharePoint integration?
  • Has there been any policy or configuration update in Sales Copilot or Power Virtual Agent that would affect the use of external sources like SharePoint?
  • Is anyone else experiencing similar behavior?

Any insights or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Hi, a few things to try, having experienced similar behavoir:
    • Are you using the description to describe what is in the document?
    • Has it been a few days, try to add a new knowledge if it works.
      • It might be temporary
    • Check the files in sharepoint

    Hi,
Are you seeing the connection issues when it's running in Copilot Studio or in another channel such as Teams or M365 Copilot?

You mention connection issues, what are you seeing?

    Cheers

    @simondoy and @Elliot
    Thanks for the response.

I'm actually facing the connection issues when running the bot inside (D365). Below is the screenshot of the prompt I’m seeing.

I have also tried Other knowledge sources like locally added PDFs and Dataverse are working fine. The issue is only with SharePoint as a knowledge source. I’ve even tried re-adding the same SharePoint files that were previously working, but now they’re not functioning at all.

It shows a message asking to “Allow” access, but when I click Allow, nothing happens—no errors, no progress. It just stays there.

Previously, the SharePoint knowledge source worked fine in this context. I also noticed that the instructions now include a line like: "Do not access any internal or external knowledge sources."

Could this instruction be causing the issue in D365?

Or is there any known permission-related bug or workaround to get the SharePoint connection working again?
