Hi all,

I'm trying to load a Canvas app into a form which is then used within D365 CRM. I have created a solution with the form and the app in, and I can update the form and it gets reflected in D365 CRM. However when I try to embed the Canvas app, it does not appear or even try to load when you load the form inside CRM.

Inside the form edit page in the Powerapp Solutions tab, I've added my app where I want it, but it comes up with an error saying I need a license - but I'm on the same account as I used to create the app and my user has a full developer license for Powerapps. I also cannot click the "Start a free trial" button in the modal because of some css weirdy beardy I think, I just can't click the button at all.

I've also checked all the permissions on the views and tables too, and from what I've seen it should load but I've run out of ideas so any help would be appreciated!

Here are some steps and checks that might help resolve the problem:

1. Canvas App Licensing Error
Even though you're using the same account with a developer license, the error might be due to:

Environment mismatch: Ensure the Canvas app and the model-driven app (D365 CRM) are in the same environment.
App sharing: Double-check that the Canvas app is shared with your user (even if you're the creator).
Dataverse permissions: Make sure your user has the correct security roles and table permissions in Dataverse.

2. Canvas App Embedding in Form
To embed a Canvas app in a model-driven form:

Use the "Custom Control" option on a form field or section.
Choose Canvas App as the control type.
Provide the App ID and Environment ID.
Ensure the field used to host the app is visible and not read-only.

If the app doesn’t load:

Try embedding it in a different section or tab to rule out layout issues.
Check the browser console for any JavaScript or network errors.

3. "Start Free Trial" Button Not Clickable
This is likely a UI rendering issue:

Try a different browser (Edge or Chrome) or incognito mode.
Clear cache or disable browser extensions that might interfere with CSS.
If you're in a restricted tenant, your admin might have disabled trial creation — worth checking with them.

4. General Troubleshooting

Confirm that the Canvas app is published and not in draft mode.
Check Power Platform Admin Center for any service issues or license warnings.
If you're using a solution-aware Canvas app, ensure it’s properly added to the solution and not just linked.

If none of these work, I’d recommend:

Testing with a new Canvas app in a clean form to isolate the issue.
Raising a support ticket with Microsoft if the licensing modal persists.
