X and Y Coordinates of Objects Not Copying Between Apps

Hi all,

I am new to using Power Apps and experiencing an issue with copying objects, such as text boxes, drop down lists and galleries etc, where the x and y coordinates differ.

For example I will try selecting multiple objects either individually or grouping to copy and then pasting in the new App but the coordinates are slightly off by a different amount each time.

I also found when creating a container for all the objects also causes the same issue.

Is there a way to either make sure the coordinates match the original copied coordinates or for everything in the group to shifted together so I don't need to manually adjust every objects coordinates.

Thanks in advance

    Hey @redmond_vextrix

I have some tips for things like this in my series on Forms Tips & Tricks:

The short answer is, when Power Apps creates copies of items it offsets them by a few pixels so that they don't perfectly overlap existing items (it assumes you are pasting on the same screen/app).

This only applies to static values like numbers.

What you can do is turn your numbers into formulae by doing something like this:

    Your X coordinate before:

    45

This X coordinate can be turned into a formula by simply adding zero:

    45 + 0

Got a bunch of other tips and tricks that might help you when building canvas app in those guides so please feel free to have a dig around 🙂

    Cheers,

    Sancho

    Hi Sancho,

Thank you for explaining, is helpful.

I have many objects, between 20 to 100 on a page.

Is there a way on mass to update all the x and y coordinates to include the + 0 to make it an equation, as I would imagine a find and replace would not work

    Thanks

    Robert

No easy way to update it no - best way is to do it when you are creating it (so you know this now for future apps).

I would take the text "+0" and copy it to the clipboard, click the X or Y in the right-hand properties panel, which will take you directly to the formula bar, then use ctrl+v
