Model Based Apps

I started playing with the Model Based Apps last week once they were released and, was intrigued about its interaction.

The backend work all appears to be based within Dynamics 365 however, when I posed the question about Licensing, I was informed that PowerApps Plan 2 would enable Users to interact with the CDS Data.

If this is true, does this mean that the Dynamics 365 Licences I currently have and pay over $100 per month per User for will be reduced to $40 per user or, am I missing something in respect of what interacts with CDS and what interacts with Dynamics.

These plans include PowerApps Plan 2:

Dynamics 365, Enterprise edition, Plan 1
Dynamics 365, Enterprise edition, Plan 2

So your Dynamics 365 belongs to either Enterprise edition, then you will be able to use PowerApps Plan2 features.

Otherwise, you need to purchase PowerApps plan 2.

    For Dyanmics 365 Plan, see:

    For PowerApps, see:

I am an office365 E3 user what is the situation for Model based apps vs the current Canvas apps?

I have PowerApps P2 licences for core admin team and have avoided using CDS as this will require PowerApps P1 licenses to all my users.

If i have understood the release information correctly the new Model driven solution is not available to Office365 users, they only have access to the canvas app as the Model driven apps require CDS for Apps.

I do not mind having to buy special licenses for developer (or even citizen dev) as well as the admins but for licenses ordinary office365 users to use the created apps buying P1 licenses to use CDS seems very unreasonable...

Please tell me i have it wrong!
