Launch Function not working inside a DataCard

Hi have created a little app which lists our internal contact numbers. I have three data cards (Internal Extension, Direct Dial & Mobile Phone Number) i want to use the value in the DataCardValue box to launch the phone app. so i'm using this function Launch("tel:"&DataCardValue) I've been able use that value and prove it works when I add a separate phone icon on my app and my biggest problem is that when the DataCard moves around the icon position isn't linked to the datacard so isn't correctly aligned When i insert the "same" phone icon into a datacard (to try and get the alignment sorted) and use the same launch function code Launch("tel:"&DataCardValue) doesn't work. ive also noticed that the changing of colour whilst "hovering" over the icon doesnt work! can anyone help me. for my first app and no previous experience i think ive done well using the help of this community and google 🙂

See the image attached. the orange icon works; the blue one doesnt.

    @CarlSingleton

Please consider changing your Formula to the following:

     Launch("tel:" & DataCardValue.Text)

You will need to reference the Text property.  In your original formula, you are referencing the object.

I hope this is helpful for you.

    Hi @CarlSingleton

Welcome to the forums - well done for getting so far with the help of this community and Google!

One thing to check is the display mode of the card where you add your icon. If the display mode of the card is View, the OnSelect formula in your icon won't run. You can change this to Edit to resolve this.

    Thanks, Randy for your reply.

I did have this problem earlier in my journey with this app; thankfully though this wasn't my problem in this particular post.

thanks again though the support from you guys is extremely useful to me as a non-coding newbie.

    Thanks, timl

This was the problem and once changed the launch function works. Thank you very much.

Now on to my next challenges to find ways of hiding buttons for specific users and then how I can arrange data cards when I blank other data cards with no values. At the moment the positioning is fixed rather than auto arranged. I may be back with those questions when I play/research it again next week.

    thanks again, Carl.

I tried the following. It worked.

    launch(“tel:\\” & ThisItem.mobile)

    regards
