Change Gallery.Selected with the built in Navigate buttons?

I would like to change Gallery.Selected as I use the built in gallery navigate buttons. I know I can (and have already) build custom buttons to achieve this but it involves constantly resetting the gallery and it's too slow. Is there a way to use the built in navigate buttons? Seems like this should be part of their functionality or at least an option since I can see why you also wouldn't want them to do this. Thanks in advance.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

The Gallery.Selected function simply identifies a record and as you have noted an icon in the gallery can trigger navigation.

Can you please be more specific on what you are trying to achieve.

    Hi Warren,

I would like to use the built in gallery navigate buttons for dual purposes but it seems all they can do is move through the gallery for you. There's not OnSelect property to work with.  The thing that surprises me is that the selected gallery record does not change with the navigate buttons and as far as I've been able to discover there's no way to turn that functionality on. The reason I would like to be able to do this is because I'm using a gallery as a full page "expanded" page. So each record takes up the whole screen with image and text fields. The navigate button is a very clean way to visually jump to the next record however, I have other features on the page that are not part of the gallery and change based on the Gallery.Selected record. But since the navigate buttons don't change the Gallery.Selected record I've had to use my own buttons to do both. It works but the load times are much much better with built in navigate buttons.

    HI @Anonymous ,

I now understand what you have with the full screen item.

When you refer to the "built-in gallery navigation buttons", is this the icons supplied when you create a gallery or the scrollbar?

There are some options with your setup to simply filter the gallery to show only the item you want and therefore "navigate" to it.

The navigation buttons that show up when you set the ShowNavigation property to true.

    Thanks @Anonymous ,

I must admit something I have never used - they do not seem to do any more than the scroll bar does.

They are not accessible to put any properties/triggers on so you really cannot use them for anything other than scrolling.

As mentioned in my previous post, the only thing I can think of is filtering the gallery by the record you require and it will show in the screen.
