Question about Power Apps licensing with example

I have a question about what type of licensing is required for a Canvas App I am working on.

Details

- app will be accessed by all staff to submit (ie Time off request)

- wf will request approval from a manager (premium connector)

- wf will be set to use a service account to run

- all staff (including myself) have M365 E3 licenses

Question:

1. What type of license would I need as a developer?

2. What type of license would all staff need to fill out the form (Canvas App)?

3. What type of license would managers need to approve the request? Would that allow them to click on the link in the approval to see the Canvas app with the request details?

4. What type of license would the service account need to run the workflow with premium connector?

TIA,

Dawn

    Hi @DawnP

The question would be where are you storing the data Dataverse or Sharepoint that first makes the difference Dataverse Power Apps premium if it is Sahrepoint the one for M365 E5 works

The second thing, why are you using the approvals connector and you say it is premium?

The documentation indicates that it is standard

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/connectors/connector-reference/connector-reference-standard-connectors

There is no difference between the end user license and the development user license

    @DawnP

If this is the only app everyone in org will use it then you could look at Power Apps per app licensing option.

Do read the licensing guide available here

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/pricing-billing-skus#power-apps-power-automate-microsoft-copilot-studio-and-power-pages-offers

Make sure to associate the flows with the canvas App so that you are not required to buy additional licenses.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-automate/associate-flow-to-app

If you use service account for other applications as well, then get Power Apps premium license.

The licensing often changes, so talk to your Microsoft licensing team or a partner that helps you get licenses.
