Data Not Appearing in Excel Data Source

I have been asked to change the look of the power app to have select fields as view text only. Below I switched the Therm. Certification Pass/Fail field from a dropdown field or allowed values field to a view text only, so when people use the app, they can't accidently switch it. Now that it is in view text, the data does not appear in the excel file that the app is connected too. I tried to refresh and reconnect the data source, it still doesn't appear.  Everything was working fine as a dropdown field, it just doesn't seem to work as view text only field. Does anyone know why the data isn't appearing all of a sudden?

First of all, Excel is a terrible data source.  See Shane Young's video here for why. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtmZM3tm2Zs .  I can't tell from your description but if you have changed the schema of the Excel file, it won't work right. I am not sure what you mean by a view text field.  Have you changed the DisplayMode of the card to View? If you want to be able to edit it on a new record but not show it once it has been entered, you can set the DisplayMode of the card to If(IsBlank(Parent.Default), Edit, View)

Excel is not a terrible data source. It has been working fine for me until I switched it to view text. Under edit fields you can select how the field for your text is displayed. I had it as allowed values which makes it a dropdown field. I switched it to view text, so people cannot edit the field when the app is being used.

As you can see below, I switched it back to allowed values field making it a dropdown and it worked by showing up on the excel data when submitted. So, I am wondering why it won't submit the data as a view text field to the excel data source?

I believe that SubmitForm() only submits data when the card it in edit mode. I may be wrong though.

Thanks, I believe that is the answer to. It just doesn't make much sense to do it like that. I will keep working on it.

I have decided to switch the text field back to an edit text or allowed values and just disable the display mode. It works this way.
