Power query authentication to dataverse

Hi there,

Using power query SQL server function I have the following options to authenticate to dataverse:

For both Windows as Database authentication the regular user@domain.com and password combination does not work, getting the "Cannot authenticate with supplied credentials" (translated dutch to english) error. And yes, my user has access to the database.

How would I authenticate to my dataverse database using these standard options?

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @lg-power ,

Have you tried the connector to connect to Dataverse from Power Query?  https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-query/connectors/dataverse

Hope this helps.  Please accept if answers your question or Like if helps in some way.

    Thanks,

    Hi @dpoggemann ,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have used this connector before in PBI. Unfortunately this connector is not available in all Excel versions.. E.g. most of our users are on Excel 2016. I believe SQL Server connector is more commonly integrated acros excel versions.

    Hi @lg-power,

If you're using Dynamics 365 on-premise, yes you can connect with SQL Server connection, if cloud version then for Dataverse, the connector to use is the https://docs.microsoft.com/power-query/connectors/dataverse as @dpoggemann stated. More info: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/developer/data-platform/dataverse-sql-query#power-bi

Also if you want o use SQL in PBI, make sure you enable the TDS endpoint: https://docs.microsoft.com/powerapps/developer/data-platform/dataverse-sql-query

    Hope this helps!
