UI Library on top of PCF

What do you think of the following idea: creating an UI Library with the PCF framework by using an existing angular/react ui open source library (ex material design). It would be a sort of wrapper on top of an existing UI Framework that would integrate into Dynamics. Thus it could be an alternative for existing Dynamics 365 controls (say you want a "cooler" checkbox/listobx/grid), but could also provide new fancy controls by wrapping the controls from the underlying framework.

I want to start a github project based on PCF + let's say angular material design (just an example) but before doing that I wold like to hear your opininion if that is something that makes sense.

I have the same question (0)

That's a great idea and thanks for posting. We definately want to build a vibrant community and shared resources for PowerApps component framework. Towards that we would be adding support for office fabric and react.

Currently we are allowing bundling of libraries within the controls but going forward we plan to allow library sharing among various components. You can start building on top of angular and share the project. Only caveat is that down the line you you would need to refactor the controls to use the shared resources for more optimized performance.

Let me know if there are any questions.

@HemantG is this Idea something that will be delivered after this (React controls & platform libraries (Preview) - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs) goes GA?

@BetimBeja Fluent is the design language and runtime Power Apps and PCF is aligned to and making deeper investments in.  You are right and shared platform libs are going to be the common denominator here with added investments in the design system and theming so that the 1st and 3rd party PCFs can align seamlessly. Please review the latest Fluent v9 which is the one we are evaluating for the future updates and theming system baseline.

    thanks,
