PowerApps tracking user location? (iOS)

Hi everyone! I just wanted to see if anyone has encountered this experience I've had twice now: I got a PowerApps notification on my personal iPhone saying "Arrived at home" in the notification center and at the bottom of my phone screen when I unlock the phone. It became visible when in fact I had arrived at home, but I started digging deeper and checked my Location Services settings on my phone and PowerApps was not in the list of apps on my phone that have an individual Location Services setting option. I'm pretty aware of this setting and thoughtful of which apps are set to 'Never' or 'While Using'. When I checked the settings for the PowerApps mobile app on my phone, I do have it set for notifications, but I am used to seeing that "Arrived at home" notification as a Maps app notification and not as a PowerApps notification.

None of the PowerApps that I use have any type of location functions built into them so I am not certain how/why the "Arrived at home" notification appeared as a PowerApps notification (only twice so far, sample screenshot attached). Even though it probably doesn't sound this way, I'm not paranoid about this myself, but it could be concerning to some people that, unless this a glitch on my iPhone, it seems that PowerApps may be able to 'track' one's movements without explicit consent or having an easy way to turn off that option.  (In between the two occasions that this has happened, I have hard restarted my iPhone and have been getting other types of location notifications like "12 minutes to get home" just fine in the native iPhone Maps app.) Has anyone else encountered a situation like this?

    Hi @Anonymous,

I have PowerApps installed on my iPhone iOS12.1.4, and notifications enabled. It is true that the location setting under Settings > Privacy > Location Services, does not even have PowerApps app listed. And allow notification setting is the only popup when first time install and open PowerApps.

I have never recieved such notification before.

After some research, I found that this notification is not unique for PowerApps, it seems that other apps on iOS can also have such strange notification. For example, in below link, it shows for Facebook app:

So this is done by iOS not PowerApps. Refer to the answer there:

The issue is the new Today Screen and the Widgets. You need to turn off 'Siri App Suggestions'

    1. Swipe to the right to goto the Today Screen

    2. Scroll to the bottom

    3. Press Edit

    4. Find 'Siri App Suggestions'

    5. Click the delete button

    6. Click Done

    Hope this could help.

    Regards,

    Mona
