Event app - creating multiple sub events

Hi there.

I'm currently trying to develop a company app for company events.

All data is stored in Excel on Onedrive because employer feels other options are unnecessary (we currently have 2 working apps developed this way - they are sloooow).

What i am doing here is that admin (from a excel table) create a main event - for instance Cooking classes. Some of the events only happens once - but some of them are weekly for like X weeks (same day).

From here you go to ThisItem and open that particular main event and create sub event(s).

What i am having trouble with right now is how to create X amount of sub events from here.

When you create the sub event you enter the date of the event and then i'd like to be able to set it up so you can chose how many days apart (like 7 days if it's a week) and how many times the event should repeat.

Which way do i go for this?

Lookup into patch?

I have not yet mastered creating multiple events at once - not even sure it's possible with how slow excel with onedrive is.

I hope i have made myself clear about what i wish to learn.

Thank you for reading

I would consider using a Shared Calendar for this rather than try and create these in an Excel file.

When you create an Event on the Calendar, you can set the recurrence automatically.

If the powers that be still want an Excel file for it, you can export the calendar event to Excel, or connect your Excel to the calendar as a datasource.

I hope this is helpful for you.

I would like not adding Outlook.

I have just gotten acceptance to use SharePoint if this changes anything.

That would be good.  You can then create a shared calendar in there and start to use it as your datasource.

However, you will not have the same capabilities that you would get with a Shared calendar that you can manipulate with the Office 365 Outlook Connector.  You will see with the connector that adding events utilizes much of what you want.

Is there any reason not to use a Shared Outlook Calendar?

@RandyHayes in all honesty i just want things to be as easy to maintain as possible.

And adding mail connector, having to setup a different mailbox etc. isn't what I call easy to maintain.

Thank you for your time, I have decided that I'll just have to create multiple events by myself.

Good luck - I believe you will find trying to create that on your own when it is already easily available might be a challenge.
