Hi all,

I'm noticing that specialized copilot agents created by us for custom scenarios don't have access to the M365 suite. This prevents us from utilizing the full potential of the agentic workflow in terms of receiving real-time updates, making calendar entries or tracking tasks mentioned in OneNote. Is there any way I can add the Work IQ MCP server to my agent in Copilot studio?

HI Varsha,

Yes, you can add Work IQ MCP servers to Copilot Studio agents, like Work IQ Calendar or Work IQ mail. For OneNote, there is no MCP, but there are connectors that can be added to an agent.

@André Arnaud de Calavon answer is correct — yes, you can add Work IQ MCP servers to your Copilot Studio agent. Just a few more details to help you get there:

What's available via Work IQ MCP:

Work IQ Mail — draft, reply, summarize email threads; Work IQ Calendar — create, update, retrieve Outlook calendar events; Work IQ Teams — manage chats and channels; Work IQ Copilot — search across your entire M365 ecosystem including SharePoint, OneDrive, emails and Teams chats Forward Forever

For OneNote specifically — there's no dedicated Work IQ MCP for OneNote yet, as André mentioned. Your best bet is using the Work IQ Copilot MCP which can search across M365 content broadly, or use a Power Automate action to read/write OneNote as a workaround.

How to add it in Copilot Studio:
Go to your agent → Tools tab → Add Tool → select Model Context Protocol → search for the Work IQ server you want (e.g. "mail", "calendar") → connect it. Microsoft Learn

Important licensing note:
You must have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license to use Work IQ MCP servers. So make sure that's in place before you start. Microsoft Learn

A public "Work IQ MCP server" isn't available — Work IQ is Microsoft's internal Copilot personalization layer, not a released MCP endpoint.

If you want your Copilot Studio agent to access M365 mail, calendar, OneNote, and tasks:

Power Platform connectors as Tools → use Office 365 Outlook, OneNote (Business), Microsoft To Do, Planner, Teams. (Tools → + Add a tool → Connector). This is the quickest route.

Graph connectors / Knowledge → place SharePoint, OneDrive, and Outlook under Knowledge.

Custom MCP server → deploy a Graph-backed MCP server (samples in M365 Agents Toolkit) and add it through Tools → + Add a tool → MCP.

Auth: Settings → Security → Authenticate with Microsoft, otherwise no personal M365 data flows.
