Custom web roles based on Accounts/ vendors

Hi I have a custom portal I need to setup multiple web roles for a claim process.

I really want to be able to see only claims submitted by my company and be able to submit claims only on behalf of my company.

1. Do web roles need assigned at the account level so that all authorised contacts can view them?

2. How do I go around implementing this, its a new web role based on the contacts customer/ vendor record.  So if I belong to an account as a "Portal contact" I can only see and auto pull existing info such as company details in to the form and within the list view only see "my records"

It really depends on the specific details, but generally, you will have a Web Role that has associated entity permissions, the entity permissions are the access that is given to the users when they have that Web Role assigned to them.

You do not assign the Web Role to account, but depending on the specifics you may have an entity permission to the account entity.

On the Entity Permission there is a Scope based on what you have described you will probably end up using Account scope (Contacts linked to the Account) and Parental Scope (you only have access from the Entity Permission because you have access via the Parent entity permission).

@Fubar Many thanks for the response. Quick question is there an easy way to populate an Account lookup etc.... based on which Contact is logged in. or populate further info such as Parent Company account etc...

Yes.  How, depends on what you need to do.  To capture it on save you can set a Metadata record against the Entity Form etc select the lookup field and then fill in Set Value On Save details (selecting Contact, and then the relevant account field from the dropdown below it.)

You can also look at what is done for the Customer Self-Service Portal where they have self service logging of cases - if the Contact has an Account they pre-fill the Account.

Edit: also on an Insert form to prefill, on the Metadata you sill see a Prepopulate field section (set it to Current portal user, and in the Form attribute dropdown = account )
