Developer tenant: Your organization is over capacity. This will impact certain environment operations

Hi

I wanted to test out environments and solution deployment for  client on my dev tenant, however it appears my storage usage is "delinquent" 😓.

Look like I need to track down where I am using this storage: of course it's perfectly clear from graphs, where to locate the offending storage, not!

Are there any tips and tricks for dealing with this? Can I move export from my default dataverse environment into a developer or sandbox enviroment as this doesn't count towards the allowed capacity?  As it is a dev tenant, I wouldn't think I would need to purchase the Power Apps Addin.

    Those are all correct statements.

    @Pstork1  thanks for clarifying.  I think in our case, we need a Sandbox as there are number of Makers or admins who want to access the single Developer / Sandbox environment . The actual developer environment you just described is tied to a single user , I believe.

    Sorry for the confusion.  A Sandbox environment isn't the same thing as a trial or developer environment.  And yes, it does count against the capacity quota.  There is an actual developer environment created when you apply for a developer plan license.  Power Apps Developer Plan - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

    Trial environments are time boxed, but they also don't count against capacity.

    Thanks, for replying . Unfortunately, looking at the docs, Sandbox environments do account towards the storage. looks like I need to have one of those "Microsoft needs yet more of your cash" conversations in the stand up tomorrow, oh joy😫.

    Unfortunately, that is the case.  The Office license is really only designed to cover the use of Power Apps and Power Automate to enhance Office 365.  So it doesn't provide for anything other than the default environment.  To create additional environments requires either a per app or per user license.  Teams environments should still be possible and Dev/Trial environments don't count against the capacity so they should also still be possible. But UAT and Production will be limited to only one.

     I have now checked my client's tenant.  So despite having 5000+ assigned E3 licenses, they are stuck with just the single default environment unless they purchase either, an additional per app or per user license.  Presumably, they can still create multiple Teams environments without this additional license, just not the Prod/Live/UAT environments they actually need🙄

    Additional capacity only comes from Per user and Per app licenses.  If all they have is E1 & E3 then I think they will be stuck with just a default environment.

    Thanks , oh well I will look at my client's tenant with 1000+ E1 and E3 seats to see if there is enough capacity, to create multiple eviroments. Note, they don't have either of the Power App license plans   . I assume to move solutions between environments , each evironment will need a dataverse database.

    If you have an Office 365 tenant (license) then yes, buying either one per user or one per app license should give you the capacity you need.  But with the Developer tenant you only get one environment with a Dataverse database. (I understand you have two environments.   I see the same thing in my Developer tenant. But I only created one of them.)  But you can't create any additional ones on your own in the Dev tenant no matter what license you have.

    Here's an excerpt from the documentation.  Power Apps Developer Plan - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs As you can see its marked as coming soon.

    • Create more environments to exercise application lifecycle management (coming soon).

    @Pstork1

    Thanks for your reply . If I understand you correctly , I can purchase a per user license to get 10 Gb of storage  but as I have a developer tenant, I still won't be able to create my other enviroments.

    Incidently , MS seems to have given me 2 developer / community envionments : 1) created soon after I first created the tenant and 2) created in April which is fuall of  Dynamics sample apps .  I can't rename either of them!
