Add a new column referencing a column of another table thru Lookup

Hi

I am new to Dataverse and having some difficulty.  I wish to add a new "Unit Price" column to my Sales Order table.  This "Unit Price" column is also found in another table known as the Product Master table with"Product Name" as the Primary Column. The Sales Order table has a "Product Name" column which is linked to the Product Master table using lookup.

How do I add a new "Unit Price" column to Sales Order table referencing the Product Master table?  The Unit Prices are maintained in the Product Master table.

Appreciate your help.

Stephen

    Hi @Anonymous,
You're practically there and already did it from a data model point-of-view. A lookup column on a table is just a foreign key, behinds the scenes it references that whole row from the primary table. So having a lookup named Product Name on Sales Order means you're already referencing the entire Product Master record. The Primary Field is just a field "promoted" used to display on forms instead of showing the foreign key (GUID) which has no meaning to the end users. Here's what I recommend:

    1. Rename "Product Name" lookup to "Product Master" since it's a link to Product Master table
    2. Create a new Quick View Form with Product Name and Unit Price in it. Here's how: https://learn.microsoft.com/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/create-edit-quick-view-forms
    3. Add the Quick View Form to the desired place on the Sales Order form

    Hope this helps!
