Global and Regional Control Delegation + Granular Permissions

Hi,

I'm working on a PowerApps environment and governance setup.

Globally we are using 1 corporate tenant and I am managing users in a specific region.

Current (As-Is)

  1. All users are assigned to the "default" corporate tenant environment.
  2. All users can create PowerApps that can be shared company/tenant wide.

We would like to establish some form of control to approve PowersApps prior to it being shared company or region-wide.

Future (To-Be)

  1. Regional users are assigned to a default “Asia-Production” environment. (they can't create PowerApps here)
  2. From the PowerApps Web interface, Regional users can switch to the “Asia-Development” environment.
  3. All development work is done via the web interface in the “Asia-Development” environment only.
  4. Regional users are not able to move PowerApps from “Asia-Development” to “Asia-Production”.
  5. IT will establish a governance and workflow process to approve PowerApps from “Asia-Development” to “Asia-Production” where they can be shared company-wide.
  6. Disable sharing of Apps unless permission is granted by IT.

Is it possible to establish the above? Or is there a better way?

(I read some old posts dated 2017 mentioning disabling sharing of Apps could not be done.)

Any advice on how to establish this is gratefully appreciated.

Regards

Yes--that is definitely doable. It is not recommended to have anything other than personal productivity apps in the default environment.

For some good guidance on environment strategy, see the power platform adoption framwork https://github.com/PowerPlatformAF/PowerPlatformAF/wiki/4---Enterprise-Management

The best practice for doing automated builds and deployments is to put your apps in CDS solutions and then use the build tools for Azure devops to manage your source control and automate builds and deployments
