Adding group-by option for views

Hi,

I'm trying to add grouping to a view in PowerApps.

When playing with the Innovation Challenge sample app, e.g.  the 'Active Challenges' view has a 'group by' selector.

Screenshot_2020-03-09 Challenges Active Challenges - Microsoft Dynamics 365.png Such a selector does not exist on other views, e.g. 'Ideas'. I don't understand how this is configured. And I wonder, whether it is possible to select a predefined grouping, e.g. whenever the 'Active Challenges' view is opened, group by Name.

I guess this is a stupid question, but I'm new to powerapps...

Thank you!

The grid, displaying the active challenges is configured as an editable grid. This configuration lets you edit the data in the list and provides a grouping function. The regular setup would display a link to the underlying record instead.

To set it up, open the classic solution explorer, find your entity on the navigation bar and then select the "Controls Tab" and click "Add".

In the list of controls, add the editable grid (you need to scroll down a little) and determine, where you want to use it (Web, Phone, Tablet)

Save and publish and you`re done.

However - keep in mind that you cannot directly edit components within a managed solution. So the "Controls Tab" may not be visible to you. In that case, you might be able to edit the related components from another unmanaged solution.

    Kind regards

    Thorsten

    Hi all!

maybe someone can answer also this part above?

"And I wonder, whether it is possible to select a predefined grouping, e.g. whenever the 'Active Challenges' view is opened, group by Name."

I have the same issue: I need to create a view with a group by field already selected. In this way, the user lands on the view and already sees the data grouped by the attribute I want.

    Anyone can help?

    Thank you! 🙂
