Remove customizations for a Canvas application in a Managed Solution

Hi,

I have a Canvas application which has been deployed to an environment with a Managed Solution. My application has been customized and I want to "revert back" to the version of the application that has been deployed with the solution.

How can I do it as I can't see my Canvas application in the Solution Explorer from the Classic interface (and remove the unmanaged layer) and the "Remove unmanaged layer" stays disabled in the "Modern" interface of my solution ?

Thanks.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @RemiChambard2,

If you simply just want to restore the Canvas app to a previous version, you can go to Apps > select row of your app > 3 ellipses > Details > Versions. Select the version you want to restore to, then click Restore.

    Hi @ChrisPiasecki .

In fact I don't want to go back to a previous version but kind of remove the unmanaged layer for my application. As far as I know, if I restore a previous version, a new unmanaged layer will be created as it'll create a new version based on the older version.

It won't solved my issue to restore back my application to a "normal" state without an unmanaged layer.

    Thanks.

    Hi @RemiChambard2

You would need to import a new managed solution that has the previous version of the app.

Alternatively, if your managed solution only included the App in it, you could simply just uninstall the solution and it would effectively remove that managed layer and the previous layer would take precedence. The problem is if you have other components in your solution such as Tables, would also get removed, and potentially result in data loss.

While its more often simpler to have a single solution, its not a bad idea to group Apps and Flows in their own solutions, separate from other core components.

    Hi @RemiChambard2,

Just to clarify a little, you cannot really removed an "unmanaged layer". You can only "remove" by undoing one-by-one the customizations in the environment for each component (e.g. canvas app, table, column, etc) or redeploying your managed solution with the option "overwrite unmanaged customizations". Any further updates from the original managed solution will be done on the unmanaged layer which always sits on top of any managed layer(s). These updates to the unmanaged layer doesn't have to come from only importing an unmanaged solution, it can be done by directly updating a components.

    Hope this helps!
