Power Apps using Sharepoint Limitation

Hi everyone,

Currently, we're building an apps for our internal use.

The apps is using about 5~10 Sharepoint List for the data source and expected to be used by about 300 person.

We're also using Collection to prevent delegation issue.

But, may i know if this is feasible or not?

What is the limitation of building a Power Apps using Sharepoint list?

Is it reliable enough?

Thank you

Ikmal Fikri

    Hi @IkmalFikriR,

As long as your formulae are delegable, SharePoint is a feasible choice - the performance impacts only start once you have a few thousand or more rows in a single list, but if you are doing efficient lookups then it shouldn't be much of an impact.

You said you used collections to prevent delegation - could you elaborate a little bit on this please as collections don't necessarily negate delegation

    Oh,

at the moment we use On Start then Load the sharepoint list into the collection.

For filtration/search, we use Filter and Subsitute.

    is this ok?

How are you collecting the list?

    Using ClearCollect(collectionName, SharePointListName) ?

If yes, then its worth noting that this only collects the number of items within the delegable limit and that this will stop working once any of your lists grows larger than the delegable limit set for the App (which can be a maximum of 2000).

Try setting the delegation limit of your App to 1 - if your App still works as expected when its set to 1 then it will likely work once the lists grow larger than the limit.

Collections do not solve the problem of delegation in most cases, they usually defer it. Please could you provide some more information or the code you are using to collect the lists, this will be crucial in determining whether the viability of the App in the longer term.

    Cheers,
