Find the correct file / source

Hi

I am making an app based on a table in an Excel file located in my OneDrive. The problem is that I have many Excel files with the same name in different folders. It has been some time since I worked on the app, and I forgot which source it is connected to. How do I find out which of the Excel files the app is connected to? And is there any easy way to change this source?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi MikeAinOz,

    Thanks for detailed clarification.
I think I got it. You have several files with the same name but the files are saved in different folders on Onedrive.
When your app is connecting to the files(with the same name), you are not able to figure out which of the table your app is connecting to.

I guess this should be a great addition. Please consider to create a feature request on PowerApps Ideas Forum, so it might be considered as a new feature in future release:

I will also collect and report this issue from my side.

    Best regards,

Mabel, thank you for your response, but I think you do not understand the problem that we are having.

Let me explain, here is a picture of a Power App with the Content Tab Open:

    Power App

This Power App is connected to a workbook, we can see that it is connected to the Transaction table in the workbook. However, nowhere can we see the name and location of the workbook. When we look at the connections screen we see one connection for One Drive which can be used by multiple Apps.

This is a bug! It is essential to be able to see which file is being used as an input.

As a workaround I have been embedding the filename in the app description.

    Regards

    Mike

    Hi MikeAinOz,

Have you tried to name the table with a different name?
I guess that name the table should work, please have a try and let me know if it works.

    Best regards,

    Hi Kromanen,

Please consider to name the table with a different name, so you can choose each according to its name.

About how to name a table, please refer to this documentation for a reference:
    https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/tutorials/add-images-to-excel/

And if you are using Excel 2016, after you formatted the file as a table, with the table selecting, under Design>Table Name you could change the table to a different name.

Please try this on your side to see if it works.

    Best regards,
    Mabel Mao
