Why is it so hard to have a Copilot run against our Sharepoint?

This is super frustrating and time waster. I started first with a Copilot running against a public website, that worked.

Then to reference internal data, I had to go through all kinds of convoluted steps -- app registration, secret words, and skip over things that I have no idea about - Skills, Topics, Conversational Plugins, etc.

I added one of our sharepoint folders -- cannot be greater than two levels deep. What does that mean? Do i have to move my files higher in our sharepoint or does it mean i can't specify a folder too low? In any case, it doesn't work. It gives no answer most of the time (unresponsive) and other times "I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing?"

It clearly does not have access to our files but I have no idea why and there is no status like "300 files indexed".

I get that they repurposed Power Agent and they are making it flexible, but that flexibility comes at the cost of it being way over complicated.

Oh and I added "scopes" whatever those are.... I added Files.Read.All Sites.Read.All which was mentioned no where in any documentation that I saw, but found it on this forum.

My last step was to move files up to a root folder, no luck.

Does anyone have a Copilot working against Sharepoint files and if so, am i missing something?

We have documents on Innovation. I ask about it and get random customer support replies that have nothing to do with us.

Do you have "dynamic chaining" switched on?

yes, is that what is causing the Help Desk responses?

I turned that off and am back to "I’m sorry, I’m not sure how to help with that. Can you try rephrasing?". It clearly cannot see the Sharepoint directory I added, how can I troubleshoot?

@RobOK - Please check this post and see anything missed. I believe it will be helpful to resolve the issue.

i've been throught those posts and linked posts many times. There are no diagnostics, no indication of anything wrong.

OK, suddenly it started working. Crazy. things I did:

    • Added User.Read to scopes which didn't seem to work
    • Changed the order of the scopes which didn't seem to work
    • Added our root Sharepoint domain (vs. had only one site), didn't seem to work
    • Accessed the bot from the "demo site" (vs. inside Studio or inside Teams), it asked me to login again, and suddenly it worked!!
    • Removed entire Sharepoint domain (leaving one site url) and it still worked

My uninformed conclusion is that going to the Demo site triggered a new login and then something with the added scopes started working in conjunction with the login.

Just out of interest, did you publish the copilot after adding scopes?

For anyone stumbling across this thread (and anyone who's already here) - we have a new troubleshooting page for Gen Answers over SharePoint/OneDrive

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/generative-answers-sharepoint-no-response

I'm hoping we'll be adding more, but this specific page aims to help troubleshoot scenarios where Gen Answers have been configured over a SharePoint/OneDrive data source, but don't return a response

Relatively new to working with Copilot. I was able to successfully publish a working CoPilot which would access the sharepoint subfolder location I specified twice. However in both cases, after two or three days the CoPilot becomes completely unresponsive. I have tried rebuilding the CoPilot exactly the same but I now get issues with either the Topic Checker returning "There is an error: 'AuthenticationInputNotEnabled'" or if I get that resolved then the Bot would respond "Sorry, something went wrong. Error code: SystemError. Conversation ID:". Why would a published CoPilot that was working, all of a sudden become nonresponsive?
