Preview/Modern Table in built column sorting will not work on Filtered items. It is an if else statement that will filter based on selection of items to filter for in the view. I tried to use the sorting with the data source only and it worked, I tried to store the data in a collection first and it did not work. Items are above 500, I stored a smaller amount of items in a collection to test if it worked and it did not fix the issue, the data source is SharePoint. My questions are the following:

1. Is this a known bug?

2. Should I move on and use a normal table and write the column sort logic separately or is there something that can be done about it?

You will find on this forum most contributors talking about how Modern controls are currently preview and are unreliable for Production apps.

I know the Sorting functionality in the Modern table is amazing but I think we will need to wait for it to mature.

I would recommend you to use the gallery and replicate the functionality accordingly.

Hi @CU09052314-0,

Endorsing what @MS.Ragavendar has posted - it is not good practice to put any control or feature still in Preview into a production app. There also have been numerous posts about Modern Table controls not producing the expected results, so it may be better to wait until they are properly sorted out.
