Canvas App - Fuzzy Search / Matching

Hey,

I’m not sure how many hours of forum searches, ChatGPT and trial an error I have behind me, but I can’t seem to find a solution.

I have a Canvas App where the user can input a text string.

In a gallery I then want to use some fuzzy logic to only return items from a SharePoint list that match the user input.

Has anyone done something like this, with or without leveraging Power Automate?

For performance purposes I’d prefer an in-app-solution of course, but at this point, I take what I can get 😄

    Hi FAQA
    The only Delegable search syntax with SharePoint Text fields is equals (exact match) or StartsWith. You can use a "wildcard" string that needs to contained sequentially in the target string on smaller lists (Search function or in Filter) however nothing beyond that. The same applies really in Power Automate.

    Hi

    Weird cause its answered all over.

    That being said, you didn't specify how they were doing their input, as in what into what control?

    As Warren said, its limited :-(

    Hey Warren and Mike,

    I found a few things about it, that’s right, but since most of it is 2 or more years old I thought maybe something changed there.

    @Mike:

    The user inputs the desired company name in a modern text input.

    This value should then be fuzzy matched with a column in a SharePoint list where the item will be created if it doesn’t exist yet.

    The fundamental issue is that no "fuzzy logic" filters exist for Power Apps or Power Automate. Also Modern controls are really not production-ready presently, although this has no bearing on your query.

    Alright, thanks - then I'll think of something else.
