Hi All,

i am also struggling in creating a suitable xls sheet for getting suggested topics. I have 2 columns. in column 1 i out several triggers and column2 contains the answers.

1. when i import the xls the triggers are not shown as single triggers but all together in 1 and the answers are cut if there is a comma in that sentence. can anyone tell me what a proper format looks like?

thx

chris

PVA doesn't support .xls, only .xlsx.  The following works for me when saved as an .xlsx

thank you so much @Pstork1. this gives me abit of an idea 🙂

my thought was to have several trigger expressions already in the xlsx and the answer as well as the answer

I thought i want to upoad the triggers directly instead of putting them in manually. does that make sense?

i still have the problem that every question and answer containing a comma will be cut after the comma.

I haven't tried using questions that contain commas.  But in the sample I used there was an answer that contained a comma.  It was not truncated when I imported the .xlsx file.  It came in as Baltimore, MD.  But I have seen it missfire a couple times and truncate on a comma.  It should work, but it isn't consistent.

Hi. I'm also having a similar issue. I want to prepopulate lots of triggers associated with a single answer, such as a static exchange rate. I'd like people to be able to ask for a rate in various ways: "Japan rate", "Japanese rate", "JPY exchange rate", "Yen rate", and have it answer "121". So far I haven't been able to get the suggest topics feature to work with this. To be clear, I can get suggest topics to work, but so far it's only been on a 1 to 1 (one question, one answer) basis.

Is a two column excel sheet with the triggers separated by commas in the first column the way to go? Has anyone actually succeeded with this? Or is there another way? I'd be really interested to hear anyone else's experiences.

Please post this as a new question.  You'll get a lot more responses that way and others will be able to find the answer once its solved.

Yes. We can add trigger phrases along with the topic using the two column (question, answer) excel sheet. In the question cell, the first sentence will be taken as topic and remaining sentences will be taken as trigger phrases along with the topic name. We can use either commas to seperate or just give each phrase in the new line
