How to add Auto-increment column in CDS

Hi All,

I searched the forum for an answer to the following problem but alas not found it.

In both SQL server and MS-ACCESS it is very easy to create  an Auto-increment column. SQL server also has the option to specify the starting value and the increment. I expected the same functionality in CDS but it seems not to be there.

My question: did I mis something or is it not available? If missing, is there a work around?

Many thanks in advance

Bart

    Hi @BartSchaap,

Which version CDS do you use within your PowerApps?

If you use the old version CDS (CDS 1.0) within your PowerApps, you could add a Auto-Number type column within a Entity.

If you use the new version CDS (CDS 2.0) within your PowerApps, you could not add a Auto-Number type column within a Entity. The Auto-Number type has been removed from the new version CDS.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

    Best regards,

    Hi @v-xida-msft Kris,

Thank you for clarifying this. As the option is not there I guess I am using CDS 2.0. (can I check this somewhere?) I will post the request as you suggested, I think having an Auto-increment column is essential for many business solutions. I my case for instance I need this to generate a unique personel number.

    Best regards

    Bart
