Properties not working in PowerApps Studio

Hello,

for 2 days now I have the problem that after I open my Canvas App some of the screens are not rendering properly. Controls are not working and so on. All of the properties are correctly set but are not executed. As soon as I delete them and copy the same functions in it works again.

The behaviour sounds similar to this post Images and OnSelect properties not working in Power App Studio (edit mode)

In between the bug appearing I haven't seen any PA version changes. I also tried to change the authoring version too but it had no impact. Tested with these :

v3.21123.25.211215862
v3.21115.37 - current recommended

v3.21114.18.206909464

v3.21113.12.205218801

v3.21112.22.204918106

Since even re-entering all of the properties only works as long as the session is active and after a save and reload not anymore.

All of the other apps on the same tenant don't have this bug.

Any ideas on how to fix the issue?

I welcome any ideas to get back to normal development.

Hi @amertels ,

It sounds like the issue has nothing to do with the authoring version. Have you tried to clear the browser cache? How were you rendering the the controls? What properties have you applied for those controls?

Thanks for answering!

I tried clearing the cache and also in a private session.

Most properties are basic references, like Parent.Width but also a Reference for the backgroud image is not working. The image is the same for all screens but only on a few the properties is not working.

The display issue is the most obvious thing not working but also code in OnSelect etc. is not being executed.

Hello @v-jefferni,

thank you for the Idea, but unfortunatly everything is already in containers.

I noticed that as soon as I "fixed" ( by copy and pasting what properties are already in there) the Screen width and height, it seemed to cascade through the containers, width and height properties. But still after saving and closing it is back to rendering/displaying properly.

What really confuses me is that it only happens in the editor and only for certain screens...

It would be better for you to add a "main" container on that screen and place all the current containers in it, like in below template screen:

Hi @v-jefferni ,

thanks for the idea! I'll definitly try it out. But I'm not sure if that helps with the "root" cause of the problem. Since not only design properties are effected, but also the OnSelect and similar ones. I just inserted the "main" container and set width and height to Parent.Width and Parent.Height. The initial values are 0..

It's like there is nothing in Screen.Width and Height, but they are set....

Just like for the Buttons.OnSelect etc. I am really out of ideas, since after publishing everything is working, but in the editor it's like it doesn't know the code is there..

Hi @amertels ,

Then you may check the App's screen settings:

The App.Width and App.Height values as well as the screen's Width and Height property's Parent.Height and Parent.Width are all refer to these two values.

Hi @v-jefferni,

thanks for all the help!

I tried it but it didn't change anything in the behaviour. Have you any ideas on how to fix the control properties?
For example in a Button I have in the OnSelect Navigate(screen) but it does not get executed, in the published version it works fine but in the editor it is like there is nothing in the OnSelect.

Hello @v-jefferni,

I was about to raise the ticket, but it seemed to resolve itself with the new PowerApps release.
The authoring version jumpd to 3.22021.27 and it works again. I'm not a 100% if that solved it, or if it was me changing the browser language from english to german in a last attempt to see if it helps 😄
