Anybody got any ideas about what the cause of this helpful message might be?
Happens on attempt to Save after adding any entity field to the group fields list.

May I know where did you find the window in your screenshot? I couldn't add individual fields to a field group, as you could see there is no place, no button to do this:
I could only add new fields to "Fields":

I have now adandoned that data and moved on, using a new database. I haven't seen the problem again so far.
