Color Themes - primary color cannot be set

Hello there,

I just returned from holiday and looked at PowerApps again. I see an update for Color Themes. For many months I am crying because I cannot set the primary color according to my company color.

Now I see lots of controls and 2 more adjustments "torsion" and vibrancy". What is going wrong with Microsoft that I cannot set the primary color exactly? Everything around colors look so complicated now, putting it into a fixed scheme, but without users control.

I am really frustrated... 🙁

Hi @BHS_KI

Unless I misunderstand you, choosing a colour from the colour picker will set the primary colour. For example, I've set a red colour here.

From the control, you can then select Type>Primary to pick up this primary colour.

I really need this color as primary color in Power Apps. Why is that not possible with Color Themes?

Hi @BHS_KI

Can you clarify what you mean when you say "why is that not possible with Color Themes"?

I was able to set the blue colour that you mentioned by typing the hex code from your screenshot (252b78). Are you finding that the controls are disabled or that it doesn't take the color that you enter?

Please read my headline. I cannot set the primary color. The HEX value is not the primary color. Do you understand primary color in the context of modern controls?
e.g. button has a fixed color setting to primary color. And it is not the matching HEX value.

I agree this is a frustrating issue. The Theme palette is generated based on the color entered, but that color does not end up being the primary color (or sometimes any of the colors in the palette). For the example above, if you enter #252b78 as the theme color, the resulting App.Theme.Colors.Primary is #615C9B.

Hey @BHS_KI

I was suffering through the same issue and found that Darker30 (in my case) matched pretty close to our brand colour (when I used our brand colour as my seed). My guess would be that one of those options should hopefully match! But I agree this was a very frustrating issue, especially when the new PowerApps basically forces us to use themes.
