Solution Import Fails due to missing dependency: Role

Hello,

I am attempting to import a solution from a Dev environment to a Test environment and am getting the following error:

The security role DOES in fact exist in my test (target) environment and the settings are identical to the role in my source environment.

Administration Mode is disabled in both environments. I am able to see the 'missing role' in xrmtoolbox. I also ensured that the version of exported solution is greater than the solution in the target environment.

I am at wits end...!

Any suggestions?

@CarrieSperls, in the development environment, in the solution that you are moving to the testing environment, add your custom security role:

@CarrieSperls, don't create it again, just add it inside the solution and then export the solution and reimport it to the testing environment.

Hello there,
i know this is a older thread but I am currently encountering the same issue as the OP.
When I follow the provided solution I am not getting the result I want ....The custom security role gets imported as well and now my target environment has the same security role twice. One is managed and one is unmanaged.
I cannot delete the managed one which was imported by the solution (which makes sense).

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
