Allow Customization is off and a managed solution is exported, but after import, we can edit the app. How can we resolve this issue?

In the first version, I moved the managed solution with the unmanaged component property. After that, I moved the solution with customization off-property. We can still edit the PowerApps.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Anjali98 ,

May I know whether you would be able to save the app after making any changes to the canvas app? There should be error if the "allow customization" is set to off.

    Best Regards,

I'm not the original poster, but I have the same issue. It seems that the "Allow customizations" Managed Property flag on the app reverts to "On" after publishing a Managed Solution.

This has the unwanted effect of people being able to edit the app, but only through the "Apps" tab in Power Apps. Its working fine for Flows, e.g. flag stays disabled if set in the Unmanaged Solution and then exported as a Managed Solution.

Interesting. Have you inspected the solution XML to figure out whether the app incorrectly becomes customizable during the solution Export or Import?

I've the same issue. After exporting my solution I've checked XML File:

    For all components its: <IsCustomizable>0</IsCustomizable>

So if 0 = false, it looks like exporting is fine.

After importing the solution, all components have disabled managed properties with customizable = Yes.

    What's going on here? Bug?

Yeah, sounds like a bug to me. I would open a ticket with MSFT on it.

    Reply of MS Support:

This behavior is a normal behavior and documented from the ALM documentation for all the components.

    You can read more here:
Use managed properties (Microsoft Dataverse) - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

Meaning you can Enable “Allow customization” property if this was Disabled during initial deployment.

However, you can’t do Vice-Versa, hence it is not working in our scenario.

    Workaround:
The only way to fix the issue is to:

    • Remove the canvas app
    • Re add it back with allow customizations set to False
    • Re-import the solution back to your organization.

    BR,

    Sven
