Need help if power pages can do this!

We are currently validating if power pages fit the needs of our customer. Here are some processes which power pages should be able to handle:

  1. One view for employees and one for external associations
    • two different user interfaces with different layouts
  2. Queue registrations for approval of employees
    • every registration from an external user needs to be validated before they can see the content of the website
  3. Registration form with categories containing authorization roles
  4. Upload of document necessary for approval (validation of the federation)
  5. Admin of a federation registers and can create additional users with limited permissions
    • every external organisation has one admin which submits the registration. that admin should be able to register users of that organization. but the users only have restricted rights.
  6. In case of approval or rejection, the admin of the association receives a message with reason in case of rejection
  7. Can add a kanban dashboard for application display
    • Drag and drop would be desired
  8. Deposit of projects on which external organisations can apply
  9. Application form with table function like excel with sum
  10. Project can have different status (Draft, Published, Inactive)
  11. A project can have sub projects where you can apply to as well
  12. Allow to manage releases for projects. Not all associations should be able to view all projects.

I would appreciate every help. I already looked through the documentation from microsoft regarding power pages, but wasn't able to validate those processes.

Thanks

    Hi @_wdsos

Here is my view based on my experience.

We are currently validating if power pages fit the needs of our customer. Here are some processes which power pages should be able to handle:

    1. One view for employees and one for external associations
      • two different user interfaces with different layouts
      • Ans: Yes, Possible.  Views can be created. Associate with web roles to achieve it. Create separate pages for different user interfaces.
    2. Queue registrations for approval of employees
      • every registration from an external user needs to be validated before they can see the content of the website
      • Ans: Enable Azure B2C. Within Power Pages, Create a separate page and make it as generally available for public. Allow users to pick their role and submit it for approval. Approval can be handled via power automate. In your dataverse schema. Use boolean type to capture approval.
    3. Registration form with categories containing authorization roles

Ans: As per above, Add roles to your registration page

4Upload of document necessary for approval (validation of the federation)

Ans: Use Dataverse File/ Image column type to achieve this

    5. Admin of a federation registers and can create additional users with limited permissions

    • every external organisation has one admin which submits the registration. that admin should be able to register users of that organization. but the users only have restricted rights. Ans: Create custom web roles. Possible
    • 6. In case of approval or rejection, the admin of the association receives a message with reason in case of rejection Ans: Using Power Automate. Boolean logic.
    •
    • 7. Can add a kanban dashboard for application display
      • Drag and drop would be desired Ans: No out of the box. You need to build a PCF component to achieve this.
      • 8. Deposit of projects on which external organisations can apply. Ans: Use Azure Blob storage or Sharepoint integration

    9. Application form with table function like excel with sum Ans: can use subgrid. Use Dataverse rollup, calculated columns for excel functions. May be powerfx

    10. Project can have different status (Draft, Published, Inactive). Ans: possible

11.A project can have sub projects where you can apply to as well Ans: possible. can use relationships.

    12. Allow to manage releases for projects. Not all associations should be able to view all projects. Ans: Yes. Achievable.

NB: The answer I have provided is based on my experience. Overall you have to do the fit gap analysis to determine deep functionalities.

    Hope it helps.
