Basic Form Subgrid Configuration for Power Pages

Hi all,

It is my first time configuring a basic form with a subgrid & I am having an issue where the subgrid will not show on the portal, however it shows as expected in the design studio (screenshots below):

I have the subgrid configured in the metadata of the Main Form. Please see below for further details of how I expect the forms to work.

1. Form A in Table A will create a new record where the user fills in the below fields:

2. Underneath these fields, the subgrid will display the data set for the specific View from Table B. This is showing as I would like in the Basic Form setup:

3. Records from the subgrid can be edited by clicking edit in the subgrid, then using Form B to edit these records in the PSI Evaluations table.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as I have been stuck on this for a while now.

Thank you

For future reference, the forums for Power Pages questions are here https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Get-Help-with-Power-Pages/ct-p/mpp_gethelp

To answer your question, is the Basic Form an Insert form (i.e. creating a new record, not editing an existing record)? if so, the Subgrid cannot be rendered until after the record has been inserted/created  - this is the same as a Subgrid in a Model Driven App and is due to the records in the Subgrid being linked to the parent record by its internal GUID (which does not exist until after the initial insert/create).

Some possible ways around the issue

    Hi @Fubar

Thanks very much for your response, this was very helpful. I've now configured this as a multistep form & all seems to be working as expected, however when clicking Submit I am getting this error, any ideas what could be causing this?

Error is a generic error, often (but not always) it is caused by a plugin or workflow failing.

Couple of ways you can see more details are described on this page  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/portals/admin/view-portal-error-log

(if you decide to turn on the Diagnostic the Error Id you see on the screen is the id in the log)

(If its a plugin/workflow you can also look at Plugin Trace Log (if turned on) and the Process Sessions table,)
