Embed Canvas App with new designer view

Hi guys,

Is the "Embed Canvas app" working on new edit designer (not the classic view) ? Following this : Add an embedded canvas app on a model-driven form - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

The step is :

1. First I have created my canvas app, so I get the ID

2. On my table, go to form, then adding a new main form, hide all but one field, then on that field, add component - choose Canvas app

3. Put the entity name, app name and app id

4. Publish

When I run my Model driven app and goes to that table, it did open my canvas, but it is only loading says "Getting your data".

With Classic editor view, when we create app from there, in the new app we will have the ModelDrivenFormIntegration component ->

In my app, since it was created before, obviously it didn't have it. Is it the cause that the Canvas app now is "Getting your data" without end ?

Please help.

Thanks

    Hi @Axal,

Do you mean that the the canvas app you embed in the model-driven app could not display data?

Could you please provide a screenshot to describe more about your scenario?

Since you have the ModelDrivenFormIntegration component, I think you should refer to the ModelDrivenFormIntegration.Property when it comes to a specific control, e.g. if a form within it says "Getting your data", you should try to set the Item of the form as:

    ModelDrivenFormIntegration.Item

    Hi @v-qiaqi-msft

I meant in my new one, I didn't have that ModelDrivenFormComponent, because I created earlier and directly from make.poweapps.com -> create new app

So my question is, with the new view designer (this is I consider as new as there is a button to Switch to classic)->

    Axal_0-1626074354062.png

with this new one, can we just input the App Id (and App name etc) with the existing Canvas app ?, or we still need to create it first (from here), but I didn't see any button to create new Canvas App from this View, but we can from Classic view.

    Thanks,

    Hi @Axal,

Do you want to embed the canvas directly from the "new view designer"?

    Yes, you can.

But, will it still need ModelDrivenFormIntegration control ?

    Thanks

    Hi @Axal,

    Yes, it will.

The ModelDrivenFormIntegration is an auto-generated control by default when you embed an canvas app on model-driven forms.

Here is more about the ModelDrivenFormIntegration:

ModelDrivenFormIntegration control properties and actions - Power Apps | Microsoft Docs

In addition, check the following doc for more about the embedded canvas apps

Hmm... how to get that ModelDrivenFromIntegration actually, coz mine is not autogenerated. Because the app loaded, it is appeared already.

I guess that's why it is still "Getting your data" without end.

    Thanks

    Hi @Axal,

Okay, I reviewed it, I think I misunderstood your scene description before.

You have done all the above in the "new view designer", and it do embed the canvas successfully but you could not access the data. And you think this method could not help you get the ModelDrivenFromIntegration control, and you think that is why you have the error "Getting your data" always.

If so, I could tell you that you should embed the canvas within the classic view and embed as below:

1). Select a field where you want to embed the canvas, double click the control and you could have a pop-up as below.

2). Select the Controls tab and choose the canvas app from the Add Control section.

3). The embedded canvas app is not supported yet for the Tablet and Mobile client types. So just select the Web.

I find a blog that describes this issue so detailed, please check as below:

    Hi @v-qiaqi-msft

Yes, it is better all in Classic view still.

    Thanks for the confirmation.
