The Author column in SharePoint isn't a user-editable column, it's the creator of that row when the patch happens, so it will be assigned by SharePoint to whoever patched the row at that point in time. You can take the Author datacard you are using out, if you have any, otherwise you will need to look for places in your form or patch statement that are attempting to give a value for Author and remove those :)
